The doorway into

a whole new world

Take my hand, let me guide you into a new land.
Spring arrives: sunlight dancing

and we lose ourselves among endless blossoms in the meadows

A flutter of wings painting colour across the sky – springtime in the mountains

A sea of orchard blossoms drifting softly across the awakening landscape – this is spring in Tyrol. Blossoms burst open with curiosity, meadows stretch towards the light as though winter had only ever been a dream. Everything feels possible as the first buds begin to bloom. Streams start murmuring again, sunbeams brush against warm cheeks and birds fill the air with songs about light hearts and gentle promises. The whole world seems to tumble joyfully forward, whispering: come and dance with me.

Spring brushes softly across the land while moments move hand in hand

Every beginning carries a little magic – feel it here

Where seeds slowly become dreams. Sowing, planting, nurturing – a quiet dance of small wonders. Feel the earth between your fingers, breathe in the scent of new beginnings. Here in the gardens, life awakens once again, and with every seed, a little new world begins to grow.

What the region offers you

Spring hikes

Across meadows, through forests and towards shimmering mountain lakes:

  • Mittersee – an emerald-green fairytale lake:
This mountain lake lies quietly nestled between dense pine forests, moss-covered roots and soft reeds. Framed by the striking peaks of the Wetterstein and Mieming mountain ranges, Mittersee feels wonderfully untouched – calm, deep green and almost dreamlike.
  • Blindsee – Tyrol’s blue jewel:
The crystal-clear water and the reflections of the surrounding landscape blur the line between sky and lake. A place of almost unreal beauty, where the colours and moods of the seasons gather quietly between dense pine forests and mountain silence.
  • Seebensee & Drachensee:
In the early morning light or late afternoon glow, the turquoise-green waters of Seebensee shimmer most beautifully. Surrounded by alpine roses, crooked mountain pines and gentle meadows, it invites long picnics and brave dips into the icy mountain water. A little higher up lies its mysterious brother: Drachensee. Darker, wilder and wrapped in grey rock, it reveals the untamed side of the mountains. Two lakes like siblings – one soft and radiant, the other deep and enigmatic.

Mountain hut walks in spring

Springtime hikes to mountain huts feel like the mountains’ very first smile: gentle alpine trails, panoramic paths, awakening nature and Tyrolean cuisine that warms both body and soul. Which routes are possible always depends on the remaining snow and current avalanche conditions.

  • from Ehrwald to the Gamsalm
  • to the Talblick viewpoint starting fom the Ehrwalder Almbahn mountain station
  • from Ehrwald to the Brent Alm
  • Heiterwang am See - Karliftstüberl

Sunny spring skiing & cross-country skiing

As spring slowly stretches the days, the slopes and cross-country trails of the Zugspitz Arena begin to glow beneath the sun – the perfect season for relaxed spring skiing and gentle laps through the snow, often lasting well into April.

Sprigtime biking

As soon as the sun grows stronger, the first bike trails in the valley begin to open. Light-filled, warm and carrying the scent of spring – perfect for mountain bike and gravel adventures. Higher alpine routes take a little longer to awaken after winter. Which trails are accessible always depends on snow conditions, avalanche risks and lingering ice patches.

  • Via Claudia Augusta cycling route

Family adventures

For the whole family

  • digital adventure trails:
In spring, nature reveals its playful and curious side – perfect for families. Interactive tasks and little stories turn each walk into a gentle adventure, making the trails fun and easy to explore together. Four of the routes are even accessible during winter and suitable for prams, while the remaining trails reopen as soon as the snow begins to melt.
  • Adventure trails:
Additional non-digital discovery trails begin opening from the end of April onwards, inviting young explorers into the mountains and meadows of the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena. Playful experiences designed to spark curiosity and encourage children to discover nature with open eyes.
  • Playgrounds:
Throughout the region, playgrounds appear like little islands for resting and playing. Later in spring, the climbing forests in Biberwier and Bichlbach reopen as well – alongside the petting zoo, a place that never fails to make children’s eyes light up.
